late, latter, former

Late is used to indicate a person is dead and is appropriate to include if the death occurred relatively recently, if the person is not well-known, or as an indication of respect. It should not be used if an individual's actions while alive are being described.

latter, former
:    Used of two things only.  For three or more, use last or first.
